Participants in
Curriculum Development and Planning
Teachers
If anyone from a school can research and evaluate
the curriculum with high accuracy that is the teacher. Teachers are the one who
can see and explore whether the curriculum is well created and they are the one
to see the effects of the curriculum to the students. The more we involve the
teachers in the process.
Students
The
active engagement of learners in curriculum planning is very important because
the main reason for the development of curriculum is for the benefit of the
learners themselves. It is important that the students know what the reason for
the course of study is. The more the students know the purpose of the
curriculum, the more they will engage their selves in the study and they will
be motivated to learn.
Principal
School
heads have the authority to implement rules, conduct seminars, trainings and
workshops. The principal has the ability to initiate and instruct the teachers
of the curriculum design that he / she thinks will be effective. The principal
also managed the budget of the school which is important because we all know
that curriculum implementation and planning need money.
Parents
Parents
provides resources for the students; financial and material resources. The parents
also monitor the development of the students that’s why we have a very famous
expression from the parents “Yan ba ang natututuhan mo sa eskwelehan”. This
famous expression means that the parents believe that every single development
of the child even positive or negative is caused by the school or by the
teacher.
Curriculum
Specialist
Curriculum
specialist from the word itself means they are well aware of the curriculum and
they are people with broad knowledge regarding the different effects and
products of the curriculum. These people are responsible for the conceptual
framework and designs of the curriculum. They ensure that if the curriculum is
not beneficial to the learners, they have to come up with another plan.
Superintendents
Superintendent
is the chief administrator of the curriculum. They have to monitor if the
school is going well. Communicate with other superintendents and evaluate if
the curriculum of their schools is much effective than they have to come up
with a plan of adapting other curriculum. They can also initiate programs for
principals and teachers for the evaluation of curriculum.
School Boards
The
school boards consist of different representatives that talk about the
different matters about the school. They are considered the legal agent of the
school. It is headed by a local mayor or executives with the board members that
decides for what can be implemented, what is the budget allocation, what are
the competencies of the teachers, and what are the regulations and limitation
of the school.
The National
Government and Its Agencies
They
provide the school with money, facilities, teachers, materials, and etc. They
provide memorandums and recommendation for the better implementation of the
curriculum. These are Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education,
and TESDA.
